Demand for the SCAC’s programs and grants have never been higher. Funding increases by state government are making it possible to provide more funding and services than prior years, even decades. But higher demand comes with increased demand on our team, and the agency has the ability to hire for these needs.

Two new positions, one managing events and the other our grants, will help keep constituent service a priority.

Events Coordinator

  • Compensation information: $44,000-$48,000 / FT / state benefits

As construction on the first floor of our building progresses, it will soon be time to welcome the public to the new Spearman Center for Arts Innovation. Conferences, workshops, and plenty more for the SCAC or Arts Grow SC are the priority for the space. Because it’s state agency, it will also available for use by the general public—with the potential to generate rental revenue.

As such, the SCAC is seeking an events coordinator to develop, implement and coordinate a new event planning function for the agency.  The events coordinator will coordinate agency and partner events held onsite and assist in coordinating agency events held offsite.  In collaboration with agency leadership, the events coordinator will develop processes and procedures for space usage, including a space rental program.

Under general supervision of the deputy director, the events coordinator leads the Arts Commission’s efforts to develop, plan, market and execute a variety of meetings and events for internal and external stakeholders. The events coordinator also assists in coordinating SCAC events at other locations and assists with guest services, including the reception desk and office procedures during business hours.

Grants Director

  • Compensation information: $54,000-$58,000 / FT / state benefits

Oh yes, we have grants. Around $10 million worth. The SCAC seeks a dynamic leader to join our team as grants director, overseeing that grants portfolio. Working under supervision of the deputy director, the grants director plays a pivotal role in the agency: directs the grants department, oversees the allocation of resources, and ensures adherence to policies and procedures. The grants director is responsible for supervising the grants manager and two grants coordinators, strategizing policy development, collaborating with the programs team, and serving as a liaison to the executive team. Additionally, the grants director will focus on enhancing the constituent experience by representing agency leadership, providing guidance on best practices in customer service, and addressing concerns or challenges faced by constituents.

This is not an entry-level position. Preferred qualifications include:

  • a bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of professional experience in grant management or a directly related field. (An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the degree.)
  • strong understanding of grant policies, procedures, and best practices
  • professional experience in arts management and programming with a proven track record of success in a leadership roles
  • strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex challenges
  • Grant Professional Certification through the GPCI (Grant Professionals Certification Institute) and/or Certified Grants Management Specialist Certification through the NGMA (National Grants Management Association).
