Scott-Fitts joined the agency in 2019 as artist development director. She was most recently the interim senior deputy director, managing human resources, communications, the artist development, arts industry, and public art programs and grants.

A Detroit native, Scott-Fitts is an artist, poet, chef, and curator in addition to being a proven arts administrator. She was formerly creative director and founding staff of McColl Center in Charlotte, where she established an international residency program in South Africa and Ireland for North Carolina artists, curated exhibitions, and developed the artist-in-residence program. She built the education/outreach and artist services programs which fostered support for local artists as well as connect artists with the local community.

Scott-Fitts taught at Central Piedmont Community College and served on selection panels for the National Endowment for the Arts, the North Carolina Arts Council, Creative Capitol, and the San Francisco Arts Commission. She is active as a leader or co-leader on committees nationally, from Charlotte to Rhode Island, and was co-chair of the individual artist support committee for Grantmakers in the Arts.

As an artist, she has exhibited at museums, public spaces, and galleries throughout the Southeast and her work is held in public and private collections including the US Bank, Issey Miyake Studios and Commes des Garcons in Tokyo, and in the UK. Ce holds her Master of Fine Arts in painting from Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore.

Scott-Fitts assumes the interim leadership role vacated by Ashley Brown, whom the board voted in February 2026 to lead agency staff upon the retirement of David Platts. Brown will continue serving as SCAC deputy director. The board’s search to fill the executive director role continues.
