Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 MELT Mural Fest.

Come join Girls Who Paint Murals for Charleston’s first-ever annual mural festival, where we will be celebrating and promoting the tradition of street art, and highlighting the city’s vibrant heritage! For the festival, 6-10 muralists (or mural teams) will be selected to paint at the festival, which will take place Sept. 11-14, 2025.

Murals are not merely paintings on walls, and MELT is not only about murals. Public art is a powerful and immediate way to share inspiration and vision, and to experience, promote, and enrich a community in a way not otherwise possible.

With MELT, we aim to create a space to highlight what Public Art embodies at it’s core: People, Story, Place, and Vision. On the surface the impact of Murals and Public Art might seem negligible, but collectively we often forget the need we have in our everyday lives to create intentional, aesthetic, and uplifting spaces for ourselves. A little effort goes a long way towards building a better place to live for us all.

We are currently seeking sponsors for the festival, and seeking muralists interested in applying to be a part of the event.

  • Deadline to apply is March 31, 2025, 11:59 p.m. ET.
  • Festival Location: Reynolds Avenue, North Charleston.
  • Compensation/Stipend: Selected artists will receive a $2,000 stipend for their mural work alongside a $500 travel stipend, for a total of $2,500. Artists will also receive discounted paint supplies from Sherwin Williams, ladders and lift rentals as needed, and a swag bag including Zibra brushes and artist kits.
