Camden seeks new leader for Arts Center of Kershaw County

Arts Center of Kershaw County, located in Camden, is a 501c3 nonprofit organization serving Kershaw County as a cultural center for entertainment and education in the performing and visual arts. Founded in 1974, the campus has three main buildings:

  • The Bassett Building with a 273-seat auditorium, art gallery, and the Jim and Pat Watts Performing Arts Wing (Black Box and Rehearsal Space) that also includes an outdoor pavilion area.
  • The Daniels Education Building (music, visual art and dance studios).
  • The Douglas-Reed House, circa 1812.

The position is full-time and jointly held by city of Camden and Arts Center of Kershaw County. It is a salaried position with a competitive compensation package. Duties include, but are not limited to, hiring and managing full and part-time employees as well as contract employees, fundraising and development, budget management, season development and implementation of performances and programs, and effective communication with the Board of Directors, donors, supporters, affiliate organizations and committees.

The salary range for this position is $80,000–$100,000.


Experience & Qualifications

  • College graduate with at least 5 years management experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization with significant experience in the arts or a related area.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of the Kershaw County area arts community is a plus; with a desire to live in the area.
  • Proven record as a successful fundraiser.
  • Outstanding written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational and analytical
  • Visionary and innovative thinker.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all sectors of the community, city, and the board of directors and staff.

Benefits Overview

Retirement

State Retirement participant. Contribution is 9% of gross pay and includes an employer match. Vesting requires 8 years employment.

Insurance

All insurance coverage has approximately a 30-day waiting period with coverage starting on the first day of the month following date of hire.  This includes:  Medical, Dental, Vision, Regular Life, Optional Life, STD, and LTD.  Health Spending Accounts (HSA’s) are also available.

Insurance Amounts
  • Basic Life provided by the city
  • AD&D provided by the city
  • Optional Life Up to five times annual salary (maximum of $500,000; optional purchase)
  • Short-Term Disability 60% of salary up to maximum benefit level described in insurance plan (optional purchase)
  • Long-Term Disability 60% of salary up to maximum benefit level described in insurance plan (optional purchase)

Paid Leave

  • Holidays: 12 Days (based on calendar year). 1 additional day during election year.
  • Vacation: 6.67 hours accrued monthly, 10 hours with more than ten years of service.
