Announcing Palmetto Peace Choir

New, inclusive community choir for adults

The founders of Palmetto Youth Choir announce their expansion with the start of a new community choir for adults, Palmetto Peace Choir.

This independent secular choir will perform music that shares universal messages of peace, hope, love and justice. Their repertoire will include an eclectic range of music, such as folk, jazz, world, musical theatre, Americana, pop and traditional choral pieces. They are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all, regardless of race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, color, national origin, religion, disability or age.

The choir is open to all singers ages 18+, as well as high school juniors & seniors. No audition is required. Reading music is not a requirement, but is a welcomed skill. Members will learn musicianship, music literacy and vocal technique.

Members will perform at several concerts & collaborations throughout their season, which runs congruent to the school year. This new adult choir will collaborate with the Palmetto Youth Choir, with each level having their own individual repertoire as well as group pieces.

Weekly rehearsals begin Monday, September 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the James Island Arts and Cultural Center at 1248 Camp Rd. on James Island. There is a monthly fee, which includes weekly instruction, sheet music and other learning resources, performances, special activities, a t-shirt and at-home practice tools, as well as a new group of friends and a weekly dose of joy. A limited number of scholarships are available to those who have the financial need.

Managing and Artistic Director Regina Ruopoli stated, “After a wildly successful first season with our youth choir, our team is thrilled to add this opportunity for adults to sing together too! There are powerful health benefits of singing with others, plus it’s just fun. We look forward to bringing folks together to nurture their creative spirits, connect with others and improve their vocal skills!
