Big news for artists and arts orgs from our partners at South Arts.
Applications for seven South Arts grant programs are open, with a few name changes and guideline updates you won’t want to miss.
These programs support everything from creative practice and collaboration to infrastructure, accessibility, and emergency preparedness. Whether you’re an artist or an arts organization, there’s likely a program designed to support your work and your community.
Applications for all categories close on Sept. 3.
Accessibility Grants
- For arts orgs
- Up to $1,000
This program offers up to $1,000 to arts organizations to make their programs more accessible to persons with disabilities.
Artist Creative Practice Grants
- F/k/a Individual Artist Career Opportunity Grants
- For individual artists
- Up to $2,000
Supports artists’ creative and professional development through milestone activities that lead to substantial career advancement, or a thriving creative practice.
Arts in Community Grants
- F/k/a Presentation Grants and Traditional Arts Touring
- For individual artists and arts orgs
- Up to $10,o00
Provides support to organizations, ensembles, artists, or artist collaboratives of any discipline in bringing arts and artists to a community.
Arts in Rural Places Grants
- F/k/a Express Grants
- For arts orgs
- Up to $3,000
Supports organizations bringing arts and artists of any discipline into a rural community, administered through an expedited process.
Arts Readiness, Relief and Recovery Program
- For individual artists
- Up to $1,000
A new initiative inspired by South Arts’ former ArtsReady and Emergency Preparedness, this grant supports artists impacted by Hurricanes Helene and/or Milton. Artists of any discipline may apply for funding to support their relief and recovery efforts, safeguarding their studios, protecting their practices, and preparing for emergencies.
Emerging Traditional Artist Program
- For individual artists
- Up to $5,000
Supports artists in Central Appalachia through South Arts’ In These Mountains initiative. This multi-year program offers artists intergenerational opportunities to share, teach, preserve, and carry forward folk and traditional arts by offering grant funding, peer connections, and professional development workshops.
Professional Development Grants
- For arts orgs
- Up to $1,000
This grant offers up to $1,000 to support the professional development needs of arts organizations for increasing organizational capacity to achieve long-term sustainability, growth, and/or operational stability.
