High school students invited to apply for music publishing deal and $25,000 scholarship
Application deadline is January 5.
The Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge is a national competition for high school students who have a passion for writing songs that could be part of a musical theater production. Six regional semi-finalists will be announced in February, and the national competition will be held in April in New York City. The National Champion will be awarded a scholarship of $25,000, and all six finalists will have their song published by Samuel French.
The Songwriting Challenge is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts partnering with the American Theatre Wing and in collaboration with Playbill, Inc. and Disney Theatrical Productions.
