ArtistYear is a national AmeriCorps program that exists to expand arts opportunities for students and communities across the country and to expand access to creative learning so that K-12 students may reap the academic benefits and critical-thinking skills that come from creative engagement.
RTAs will serve as full-time teaching artists, providing an extra pair of creative hands to meet the desires and interests of their school site. RTAs will collaborate with partner schools and educators to support, design, and facilitate student-centered creative learning experiences to improve the school experience, leading to increased empathy and social connection among students.
ArtistYear is looking for applicants who are:
- Highly skilled in their artistic craft, holding a degree in an artistic field, or having a comparable combination of education and experience in their artistic field.
- For example: Art history, art therapy, creative writing, dance, digital media, fashion design, fine arts, piano, photography, screenwriting, filmmaking, music composition, music education, theater, viola, etc.
- U.S. citizenship, national, or legal resident.
- Being able to dedicate up to 10 months of service from Sept. 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
- Able to successfully pass all necessary background checks and clearances for serving youth.

- Effective communication:
- Easily engages others and demonstrates genuine interest in the thoughts, ideas, and opinions of others;
- Comfortable with public speaking, writing, preparing presentations, and/or speeches;
- Possesses the ability to actively listen.
