Artists U/SC Intensive

The South Carolina Arts Commission is hosting the Artists U/SC Intensive Nov. 9-10. Artists U/SC Intensive is a project of the S.C. Arts Commission’s Artists’ Ventures Initiatives program. Any South Carolina artist may apply to attend.

Drawing on his work in Artists U/Philadelphia, artist leader Andrew Simonet will outline approaches for reconnecting with deep values, building community and slaying the two demons of the artist’s life: time and money. Andrew will help participants see past the starving artist mindset and understand how to utilize existing strengths to build a life that is balanced, productive and sustainable. Using assignments and exercises in a round-table approach, participants will learn how to use tools to make their artistic lives more satisfying and lucrative.

Artists who apply must be able to attend both sessions: Friday, Nov. 9, from 5 – 8 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. There is no cost, but class size is limited. Applications are due Oct. 15. Visit the website for more information and the application form.

The mission of Artists U is to provide individual artists with planning and professional development programs that are comprehensive, local, long-term, and artist-run. Artists U seeks to empower artists to leverage their talents and accomplishments toward individual goals and visions. Take a peek into Artists U/Philadelphia:
