Wofford College’s Rosalind Sallenger Richardson Center for the Arts
Our Mission
The Richardson Family Art Museum sustains a diverse collection of art and works of cultural significance. It supports the academic curriculum and the cultural life of the college, which enhances the larger mission of the college, providing superior liberal arts education that prepares its students for extraordinary and positive contributions to society. The museum strengthens, supports, and contributes to the academic research on campus and beyond, serving the college community of students, faculty and staff, alumni, and the region’s general public.
The mission of the Richardson Art Gallery is to encourage creative work appreciation and understanding of art and its role in society through direct engagement with original and contemporary works of art. The gallery stimulates active learning about art and the creative process through research, teaching, and dialogue among communities of Wofford College students, faculty, artists, scholars, alumni, and the wider public. The gallery organizes exhibitions and educational programs to offer enjoyment and encourage inquiry, while building and maintaining its collections and programming in trust for future generations.
