Arts Council of Chester County
The Arts Council of Chester County is a non-profit organization located in downtown Chester, S.C. Founded in 1973, we continue our mission to encourage participation and appreciation of the arts by all citizens of Chester County and surrounding areas through the advancement of arts in education, community arts, and individual artist development.
The Arts Council represents more than 50 different artists each year in our Ann D. Marion Gallery, located downtown. The Gallery is full of unique and affordable handmade gifts, including jewelry, paintings, furniture, prints, holiday items and ornaments, steel sculptures, photographs, Chester items, and much more.
The Council also offers exhibits and receptions to promote local & regional artists. The public is invited to attend at no cost. We also offer a variety of art classes taught by professionals with expertise in glass fusion, pastels, oils, acrylics, sketching, watercolors, photography, and more. Other classes offered include sweetgrass basket weaving, journal classes, Kids Art Camp, jewelry classes, etc. These art classes are available for beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels.
The Arts Council also provides numerous performance art and visual art events, including the Oyster Roast & Auction Fundraiser, the Southern Porch & Garden Party, which showcases the beauty and talent of Chester, the Hot Southern Nights Concert Series, which is a platform for local talent, and the Holiday Home Tour. A variety of other events are offered, including “An Evening in Greece” in partnership with Cyclone Restaurant.
In addition to these events and art classes, the Arts Council also hosts the Superintendent’s Annual Art Show in the spring, in partnership with the Chester County School District. The students’ winning pieces are exhibited in the Gallery for one month and a community reception is held.
Memberships are available at different levels and entitle you to members-only discounts on specific events throughout the year.
