Vestiges by Linda Williams McCune

Memory, place, and the quiet weight of time take shape in Vestiges, a solo exhibition by Linda Williams McCune, on view at 701 CCA through Sept. 27.

Rooted in her family ties to rural Tennessee and her studio in Greer, McCune builds multi-media sculptures and drawings that explore moral virtue, remembrance, and the passage of time. Her layered series—Ede, Family Portrait, Natural and Theological Virtues, Stress, Obsession, and Levels of Pit—invite you to slow down and sit with the questions they raise.

McCune’s work lives in collections including the Columbia Museum of Art, the Hunter Museum of American Art, and the South Carolina State Art Collection.

Artist Talk

If you’d like to hear the story behind the work, 701 is holding an artist talk on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m., during which McCune will share her process and inspirations. The gallery will open from 5-7 p.m. for you to preview the works before McCune’s talk. An RSVP is required to attend.
