Literary arts grants from South Arts

Application deadline: May 1

South Arts is accepting applications for the 2013-2014 Literary Arts grant program. Nonprofit arts organizations in nine states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) may apply for financial support to engage writers (fiction, creative nonfiction or poetry) who reside outside of the applicant’s state. Applicants can receive up to $2,500.

Support is awarded to literary projects that contain both a public reading and an educational component, such as a writing workshop. The project can include single or multiple writers involved in an event (for example, writers series, festivals or single engagements).

Projects must take place between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014.

Applications must be submitted online by Wednesday, May 1, 2013 by 11:59 PM ET.
