When We No Longer Touch

The Midlands Gay Men’s Chorus is collaborating with the Greenville Gay Men’s Chorus and USC’s Gamecock Chorale for special performances in April remembering the AIDS crisis and its impact on our state. The choirs will be performing “When We No Longer Touch,” the multi-movement work by Kristopher Jon Anthony composed in the song cycle of the requiem mass as an exploration of the stages of grief and the journey of loss so many experienced during the epidemic. The program will also include other pieces written by members of the South Carolina LGBTQIA+ community telling their stories of survival, death, hope, and love through music. The performances will be accompanied by local musicians and include visual historical images from the period.
Performances will be April 15-16 at Reformation Lutheran Church in Columbia.
