October 15th, 1954, Hurricane Hazel slammed into the Grand Strand as a Category 4 hurricane on a full moon high tide and forever changed the area. The 2020 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with Transforming the Grand Strand: Hurricane Hazel, locally produced by Stages Video, reconstructing the devastating impact of Hurricane Hazel on Myrtle Beach and Horry County through interviews with survivors, archival photographs and film footage. The free screening is October 14th at 1 p.m.
