Terence Blanchard Lecture and Q&A (Moderated by Dr. Tonya Matthews)

Join us for an educational lecture and subsequent Q&A with one of jazz’s most esteemed trumpeters and prolific composers, Terence Blanchard. Terence Blanchard is an eight-time Grammy Award winner and two-time Oscar-nominated film composer. Along with his monumental opera Fire Shut Up In My Bones, Blanchard is best known for his long-standing collaboration with director Spike Lee, composing scores for over 20 of Lee’s projects. His work spans documentaries, feature films, and TV series, including BlacKkKlansman, Da 5 Bloods, One Night in Miami, The Woman King, and the recent Emmy-nominated They Call Me Magic. This conversation will be moderated by Dr. Tonya Matthews, President and CEO of the International African American Museum (pictured).
