South Carolina New Play Festival
The SC New Play Festival is a city-wide performing arts festival in downtown Greenville, which will occur August 10-13, 2023. During the weekend, readings of new plays and musicals will be presented, and the festival will culminate in a Broadway Cabaret featuring Miguel Cervantes, who is Hamilton in Broadway’s Hamilton. The festival kicks off on Thursday, August 10, with a presentation of “The Game,” which combines mind-blowing illusions with dances. On Friday, the Greenville Theatre will host A Black-billed Cuckoo, a comedy that follows a close-knit birding group. Saturday features a matinee of KWEEN at the Warehouse Theatre and an evening presentation of The Essential Alice, the story of Alice in Wonderland written by a Broadway composer and directed by a 2-time TONY winner.
