Runaway Runway Artist Call Hosted by the Columbia Design League
On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the Columbia Design League is officially bringing back one of the city’s most beloved signature events: Runaway Runway.
Originally launched in 2007, Runaway Runway began as a backyard experiment and quickly evolved into a premier fashion event centered on sustainability and diversity. For a decade, it served as our flagship fundraiser, showcasing how “trash” can be transformed into runway-ready treasures—from tires and bottle tops to discarded computer parts and library cards.
After a hiatus since 2017, the community has spoken: Columbia is ready for the return of this joy-filled, creative spectacle.
Runaway Runway is more than just a fashion show; it is a creative response to the global crisis of overconsumption.
