“New Magic in a Dusty World: Making Matt Baumgardner in 1980s New York”
The Greenville Center for Creative Arts (GCCA) is pleased to host its newest Main Gallery exhibition, “New Magic in a Dusty World: Making Matt Baumgardner in 1980s New York,” a major exhibition examining the formative decade of artist Matthew Clay Baumgardner. On view from April 3 through May 27, 2026, the exhibition opens with a public reception on Friday, April 3 from 5–8 p.m., with a curator walk through at 6:30 p.m. that night.
“New Magic in a Dusty World” was curated by the Furman University Department of Art’s Stephen Mandravelis & B. Davis Fleming and coordinated with the Matthew Baumgardner Estate. This exhibition is sponsored by a generous donation by Flavio Varani.
