METAPLASIA: A Contemporary Performance of Butoh and Paint – A Ten Year Homecoming
METAPLASIA is a performance collaboration by Columbia, SC artists Corin Wiggins and Michael Krajewski that fuses visual art, movement, and sound. The work marks Wiggins’ return to Columbia after ten years away and is believed to be the first professional Butoh performance presented in South Carolina. Drawing it’s name from the Greek term for “change in form,” Metaplasia examines how bodies and minds adapt under pressure. Through themes of transformation, chaos, control, and mindfulness in contemporary life, the performance unfolds alongside an original live soundscape composed by Wiggins.
