Legacy of a Mentor: Honoring Alfred D. Ward & His Artistic Influence
This exhibition honors Professor Emeritus Alfred D. Ward and his impact on our community through his work and the work of select Winthrop Fine Arts and Design Alumni who worked with Ward. Ward was Chair of the Department of Art and Design 1989-1996 and Professor of Art and Design through 2006. Except for a few years, he continued to teach at Winthrop through 2023. In addition to works from various moments of Ward’s career as an international silversmith, artist, and designer, several works included in the exhibit are on loan by members of our community. The select alumni included in this exhibition have written statements about Ward noting his influence on their lives and careers. Some made works of art specially for this occasion to commemorate Ward.
