Educator Workshops: History Through Images and Objects

Social studies isn’t just about documents — images and objects provide wonderful insights for students at any level. Teachers of all subject areas are invited to discuss how visual images fit into the social studies curriculum (including the new standards), how to think critically about images designed to persuade, and what assessments with object-centered learning can look like. Registration fee ($60 for general public, $42 for CMA members) includes gallery admission, all materials, lunch, and a digital copy of the CMA digital image social studies toolkit. Participants will earn seven hours of professional renewal credit. Capacity limited to 10 participants to ensure physical distancing, and face coverings are required. Sessions are Friday, February 26, for elementary school teachers (all subjects); and Saturday, February 27, for middle and high school teachers (all subject areas).
