Art Museum Exhibition Explores Multiple Meanings of Money

Depending on one’s perspective, money is either the thing that makes the world go ‘round, or the root of all evil. It can bring power, status, security, comfort or misery — or something completely different. In a new exhibition at the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum, titled Cultural Currency, 38 artists explore the many aspects and conceptions of money by fashioning actual items of currency into 65 works of art — some whimsical, some cynical, all thought-provoking. The exhibition opens June 15 and runs through Sept. 22.
