Curated by KELA, Crowned by the Roots showcases a collection of African American creations exploring the connection to self through hair. It acknowledges the unique journeys carried, including experiences of loss. Honoring the heritage of hair reflects intentional choices, with a cultural emphasis on lineage through community, leadership, legacy, and royalty.

Showcasing Monday, February 2-Friday, February 27 (Closed Presidents Day weekend). Mon.-Sat. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Artist Talks: Saturday, February 7 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (arrive early)

Closing Reception: Thursday, February 26 from 5-9 p.m. – Two Panel Segments, Spoken Word, Photo Booth (backdrop created by participating artists), Fashion Walk (judged by panelists with prizes)
