Concurrent Solo Exhibits – Shelby Corso and Caroline Morris

Shelby Corso explores the transmutations of feminine desire in her exhibit, I Want to Eat the Earth You Walk On. There are systematic contradictions in the ways in which feminine desire is constructed and expressed. Corso’s paintings and soft sculptures utilize symbols related to femininity often found in fantasy and horror media. Summer Fun is a series of oil paintings created by artist Caroline Morris. The paintings depict various activities that people typically enjoy during the summer months. The figures in the paintings are left abstract so that viewers can imagine themselves in the scene. The paintings use a variety of textures and colors to convey the message that regardless of age or income, everyone can enjoy the summer season.
