Concurrent solo exhibits: Richard Hagerty and Chilly Waters

Richard Hagerty is a surrealist artist who has been painting fantastic, visionary worlds for more than 40 years. Often based on his dreams and fueled by intense curiosity, Hagerty’s paintings explore manifold realms, including mythology, astronomy, anatomy, botany, history, philosophy, and world religions. His show, Hagerty: New Works, will feature pieces from the last two years – examples of both geometric and narrative work. Fascinated by regional idioms and colloquialisms, clay artist Chilly Waters is a person who sees these cultural terms and phrases in his mind as literal representations of the individual components that make up the whole. Through clay and repurposed “trash”, he constructs whimsical 3D representations of what his mind’s eye sees when he hears such phrases spoken aloud
