Call for Textile Artists and Costume Designers: Steampunk Fashion Show
The Hegeler Carus Mansion, a National Historical Landmark in LaSalle, IL, designed by renowned architect. W.W. Boyington and interior designer, August Fielder, strives to create experiences that enhance the architectural history and family legacy. The goal of our 2026 Gala Steampunk Fashion Show is to showcase national textile artists and costume designers while enhancing the Mansion’s impact through this annual event.
This call is open to artists currently working and residing in the United States with experience designing, fabricating and constructing costumes. Ten works will be selected for the fashion show on September 19, 2026 in the Grove at the Hegeler Carus Mansion.
All work must be
- able to be worn and showcased during the fashion show
- capable of withstanding weather conditions common to the state of Illinois
- original and handmade (may incorporate altered items)
- completed during the competition timeline (no prior pieces)
- not previously displayed prior to being entered into this competition

Best in Show: $1,000
2nd Place: $500
Honorable Mention: $250
