In the Tall Grass and Delicately Strong – A Two-Artist Exhibition Exploring History, Identity, and Resilience
Francis Marion University’s Gately Gallery presents a dual exhibition, Aug. 19-Oct 9.
Shane Booth, based in Fayetteville, NC, creates large-format cyanotypes on prairie dresses and bonnets. In In the Tall Grass, Booth honors the strength of rural women, especially those in his Nebraska lineage, while confronting themes of masculinity, family trauma, and American history.
Morgan McCarver, a ceramic artist working in Asheville, NC and Spartanburg, SC, presents Delicately Strong, a porcelain series inspired by Victorian corsetry and wildflowers. After her studio was destroyed by Hurricane Helene, McCarver began to explore her own feminine strength and faith through clay. Her work celebrates the quiet power within fragility, examining what it means to be strong in both body and spirit.
