First Presbyterian Church
The Chancel Choir is a large adult choir which leads at least one morning worship service each week and sings at both services on Communion Sundays and other celebratory Sundays. The Chancel Choir also sings for special programs and concerts throughout the year, including those with orchestra. All church members with a love and skill for singing are welcome to join.
In the Youth Chorus, seventh grade through high school students continue to develop the musical, vocal, and choral skills taught in the children’s choirs. An emphasis is placed on vocal technique, sight-singing, and choral disciplines. The choir sings mostly three-part repertoire (SAB) and joins the Chancel Choir for special concerts and occasions. Choir members will also have solo and small ensemble opportunities.
Choristers from fourth, fifth, and sixth grade comprise this choir, which sings periodically at morning worship services and on occasion at evening worship services. Vocal skills and musicianship are strengthened through expert vocal training, sight-singing instruction, and music theory study.
