- Artists at an emerging stage in their careers (not yet widely recognized, but dedicated to developing their art).
Help spread the word: if this opportunity isn’t right for you, please share it with someone you know who may qualify. Don’t miss this chance to receive support for your traditional art.

Richland Library celebrated the opening of its latest gallery installation at its main location. Art of Being: Visible is the third installment of the Art of Being series, which highlights identity, resilience, and the universal human need for recognition and belonging. This year’s installation features the work of 16 poets and visual artists, including 2025 SCAC Poetry Fellow Evelyn Berry. Now open during library hours, the exhibition will remain on display through Friday, Nov. 14. (1431 Assembly St., Columbia. Free.)

Meira Warshauer, center, is introduced to the players of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra earlier this month.
Royal Scottish National Orchestra records Warshauer compositions
SCAC Fellow Meira Warshauer (1994, Music Composition) checked in via email after a visit to Scotland for a new collaboration for Parma Recordings.
“I was thrilled to collaborate with the superb Royal Scottish National Orchestra and conductor Robert Ziegler in recording three orchestra compositions: Beyond the Horizon; As the Waters Cover the Sea (after Mozart’s 40th Symphony); and Jerusalem Open Your Gates, the latter of which I was especially grateful to be recording, as it features melodies representing Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and envisions a world where all people live in peace and harmony. Parma made the sessions arrangements, with Jan Kosulic as sessions producer. Brad Michel will take care of the post production editing and mastering, and we’ll save everything for a future release of my orchestral works.”
Warshauer’s Five Reflections for string quartet is one of the featured works on Parma’s recent release of Strung Together. Also with music by John A. Carollo, Ferdinando DeSena, Ivar Lunde, Jr., John Partridge and Armando Torres, performed by the Arneis, Benda and Sirius quartets. Stream or download Strung Together.
