The public art scene is growing in the Vista
from ColaToday.com
The word from just a few blocks from Hub HQ is that there’s new public art coming to one of the state’s original officially designated Cultural Districts.
Here’s the lede from writer Andrew S. Brown:
The Congaree Vista Guild is set to officially unveil a striking new public art installation on the 1100 block of Park Street in downtown Columbia on Friday. Just last week, artist David Falter was on-site in the Vista, personally bringing his vision to fruition and now he’s looking forward to showing it off.

John Acorn exhibition opens in Upstate
Not to get all spoiler-y regarding today’s lead story, but (ahem) there is another State Art Collection artist with a Governor’s Award for the Arts being featured Friday too. Hampton III Gallery in Taylors opens a new John Acorn exhibition (20th Century Man) on Friday and Hub friend Sandy Rupp announced an artist reception Saturday, April 12 from 1-3 p.m. (For what it’s worth, Hampton III Gallery is also a Governor’s Award recipient.)
