Stronger Together: National Arts in Education Week

Saluting arts learning in South Carolina

Official Statement from the S.C. Arts Commission

Alongside a bevy of local, state, and national partners, the South Carolina Arts Commission is excited to observe this year’s National Arts in Education Week.

“As a former high school musician, I have experienced the transformative power of school-based arts programs firsthand and deeply understand how these opportunities expand the educational horizon for our students. Whether through performance or visual arts, these disciplines cultivate creativity, build confidence, and foster collaboration—skills that are essential for life and learning.

“I’m proud to stand in strong support of arts education as a vital part of delivering the well-rounded, high-quality experience every South Carolina student deserves.”

That support directly impacts not just our state’s 4K-12 students and their teachers, but also school districts and arts and non-arts non-profit organizations that provide extracurricular activities with an arts component.

We encourage you to follow them on social media for specific content this week in partnership with Americans for the Arts.

The SCAC gratefully extends its thanks to the South Carolina House of Representatives, South Carolina Senate, and the Governor’s Office for providing funding support for arts learning initiatives. We further thank advocates for hard work, not just on our behalf, but truly for the students of South Carolina.

But we reserve the greatest thanks for those on the front lines: those teachers, school and district leaders, and the organizations who are using arts learning to make a difference in young lives every day.
