South Arts opportunities update for January
PD sessions + artist, arts org grants open
Our regional partner South Arts is coming into 2024 hot, with a slate of professional development opportunities ready to go and artist and organization grants taking applications. They mean business. Let’s dive in, in no particular order.
For artists
Online PD for creatives
In the coming weeks, South Arts will host five free professional development workshops for creatives.
- January 11, 2024 | 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET: A Beginner’s Guide to Budgeting
- January 25, 2024 | 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET: Tax Basics for Creatives
- February 15, 2024 | 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET: Burnout 101 for Creatives
- February 21, 2024 | 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET: South Arts Dance Forum
- March 21, 2024 | 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET: Essential Social Media Tips
If you can’t join these workshops live, they will be recorded and added to the growing library of professional development workshop recordings available on the South Arts website unless otherwise noted.
Individual Artist Career Opportunity Grants
- Application deadline extended: February 9, 2024
Grants of up to $2,000 to support a milestone opportunity in an artist’s career. Further information on individual artist career opportunity grants is here.
For organizations
artsHere
- Statement of interest deadline: January 19, 2024
The Hub shared the artsHere announcement just two short months ago, but this grant provides up to $130,000 to invest in organizations who want to increase arts participation for underserved groups and/or communities. (Six figures really grabs one’s attention, no?)
Presentation Grants
- Application deadline: March 1, 2024
These grants provide up to $9,500 to organizations in South Arts’ nine-state service area seeking to present a Southern artist based in South Arts’ nine-state service area for a performing, literary, or visual arts or film engagement. Presentation grants information is available here.
Express Grants
- Rolling deadline
Awards of up to $3,000 for rural communities to present Southern artists, including filmmakers, performing or visual artists, and writers and poets. There is a 1:1 matching requirement here. Learn more about express grants here.
Professional Development & Artistic Planning Grants
- Rolling deadline
Southern presenters, programmers, and curators can get $1,000 to support professional development. PD and planning grants information is here.
