Created for children ages 7 to 12, the series is shot on location in Baton Rouge, with partner stations like SCETV contributing local segments that showcase artistic voices from their regions. New episodes are released weekly.

The new season, its third, is now streaming on YouTube with a focus on features with guest artists and arts segments from across the South, including a spotlight on South Carolina’s creative community—and those of Louisiana and Tennessee. The 10-episode season introduces young viewers to the elements of art—think color, mood and plot—through interactive adventures with professional painters, musicians, screenwriters and more.

SCETV partnered with LPB to amplify South Carolina voices and contribute South Carolina-based segments to the new season. Included are an arts adventure spotlight at the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston and an artist feature highlighting acclaimed South Carolina visual artist Cedric Umoja, who traveled to Baton Rouge to share his work in the episode “Line.”

Ziggy’s Arts Adventure follows Ziggy, a 9-year-old alien from a planet where everyone has an “emoticle—a glowing antenna that lets them understand each other’s feelings. Ziggy’s emoticle doesn’t quite work like the others, leaving him feeling different and disconnected. That changes when a spacecraft from Earth crash-lands on his planet and plays music. For the first time, Ziggy’s emoticle lights up and music helps him feel understood. Inspired by this discovery, Ziggy travels to Earth in search of more art and artists, learning how creativity connects people in powerful ways.

Previous seasons of Ziggy’s Arts Adventure are also available to stream on pbs.org and the free PBS App, available on iPhone, Apple TV, Android TV, Android smartphones, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire Tablet, Roku, Samsung Smart TV and Vizio.
