The South Carolina Arts Commission just opened two coordinator-level positions where you could serve #SCArtists or arts organizations in the state.

With heavy demand for SCAC programs and grants comes increased demand on our team, so the agency is hiring to meet those needs. Consistent constituent service is a priority for the SCAC, and these will make it more responsive and a more robust resource for those seeking assistance.

Because of the SCAC’s recent expansion to include offices in Richland, Charleston, Florence, and Greenville counties, successful candidates for these positions can reside near and work from any one of these locations.


Arts Industry Coordinator

The arts industry coordinator will play a vital role in working with constituents, grantees, artists, and organizations throughout the state and works under the supervision of the arts industry director. They serve as a member of the programs team and provide consulting and assistance to counties or regions of the state.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
  • Fosters relationships with arts administrators, organizations, community representatives, school districts, colleges/universities, and governmental agencies through meetings, public forums, panels, and other creative activities.
  • Works with Arts Industry Team to administer short and long-term planning goals and guidelines for SCAC assigned grant categories and programs in accordance with agency mission, values, and strategic plan.
  • Generates MOUs, prepares agreements, and creates contracts for programs/projects in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with consultants contracted to provide training and services related to South Carolina’s Arts sector.
  • Ensures consistent communication to partners about projects and programs.
  • Collects and distributes arts program materials; prepares statistical and other reports to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Identifies potential partners for Arts Industry grants and programs.
  • Builds relationships for collaboration opportunities for Artist Industry offerings.
  • Represents SCAC at local, statewide, and national cultural activities, meetings, and conferences.

Working under the supervision of the artist development director, the artist development coordinator works with constituents, grantees, artists, and organizations throughout the state. They serve as a member of the programs team and provide consulting and assistance to counties or regions of the state.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Works with artist development director to administer short and long-term planning goals for SCAC assigned grant categories and programs in accordance with agency mission, values, and strategic plan.
  • Creates and implements an annual work plan for assigned grant and programmatic areas.
  • Fosters relationships with arts administrators, artists, and arts organizations through meetings, public forums, panels, and other creative activities.
  • Provides feedback to artists on grant applications and panel reviews when requested.
  • Conducts research on potential grant recipients, grant panelists, and program partners.
  • Fosters relationships for collaboration opportunities with artist development offerings.
  • Generates MOUs, prepares agreements and contracts for programs/projects in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with consultants contracted to provide training and services related to individual artist support.
  • Represents SCAC at local, statewide, and national cultural activities, meetings, and conferences.
