S.C. Novel Series opens submissions for next prize
Cash award, publication contract await next winner
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Friday, February 15, 2024
The South Carolina Novel Series is gearing up to recognize one exceptional South Carolina writer next spring.
The series publishes a novel by a South Carolina writer biennially and is open to writers of all levels who have lived in South Carolina for at least one year prior to submission of their manuscript.
Submissions for the series, accepted online only, opened earlier this month but run though Friday, Feb. 15, 2024. No submission fee is required.
Writers selected for publication in this series are awarded $1,500 and a book publication contract with Hub City Press that includes marketing and tour support from Hub City Press and the series partners, as well as placement in all South Carolina state libraries and readings/events with presenting sponsors.
The South Carolina Novel Series is a partnership of the SCAC, Hub City Press, South Carolina Humanities, and the South Carolina State Library.
2022 winner update
This past summer, Hub City Press published The Big Game is Every Night by 2022 winner Robert Maynor. The book was recently reviewed by the Post & Courier.
