S.C. cultural treasure returns to web
State Art Collection visible in new online gallery
“False spring” was nice, but winter is currently reminding us that it’s not over.
If you’re ducking back indoors for warmer, drier activities, you could do a lot worse than checking out the State Art Collection’s return to SouthCarolinaArts.com.
Come in from the cold and browse the collection while you enjoy a warm beverage. (Just don’t do it on company time and get us in trouble!)
Artwork Archive provides not just a database for this cultural treasure, but a gallery tool that allows for an embedded searchable gallery on the SCAC website. Details about artists and their works are at your fingertips.
Further details about the collection, like loan policy and future additions, are included thanks to Public Art Coordinator Harvee White (right).
Curated by a committee of knowledgeable art enthusiasts, the South Carolina State Art Collection (SAC) serves as a time capsule, representing the historic importance and cultural vitality of the visual arts in South Carolina from 1967-2020. Containing 466 works by 288 South Carolina artists, the collection serves as an educational tool to help promote the state and its cultural resources and to encourage creativity and support the artists of South Carolina.
