S.C. Children’s Theatre promotes new CEO from within

Managing director gets leadership nod

South Carolina Children’s Theatre (SCCT) announced the promotion of Katie O’Kelly to its CEO role, effective immediately.

O’Kelly served as the theatre’s managing director since 2022 and steps into the leadership role as the organization continues to expand its reach and impact in the Upstate.

“Katie’s leadership and vision have been instrumental in advancing SCCT’s mission to empower and inspire a new generation of changemakers through theatre,” said Board of Directors Chairman Matt Irwin. “Her passion for the arts, commitment to our community, and strategic expertise make her the perfect choice to guide the theatre into its next chapter.”

“I am deeply honored to take on this role and continue to build on the incredible legacy of SCCT,” said O’Kelly. “The arts have the power to change lives, and I look forward to working with our dedicated team to bring even more opportunities for creative expression, learning, and connection to the Upstate.”

For more than 37 years, South Carolina Children’s Theatre has been a cornerstone of the arts in Greenville, providing young people with opportunities to explore, create, and grow.
