Park Circle Gallery to exhibit works by HEART Inclusive Arts Community
An exhibition featuring artists of all abilities
The City of North Charleston’s Cultural Arts Department announced a mixed media works group exhibition by HEART Inclusive Arts Community will be on display at Park Circle Gallery from July 31-Aug. 31, 2024.
The artists will be hosts of a free, public reception at the gallery on Friday, Aug. 2, from 5-7 p.m. Admission is free.
In their group exhibition, To the Great Unknown, members of HEART Inclusive Arts Community present a collection of tactile and interactive mixed media works that explore the things we might not know; the question marks in life: Wonder. Mystery. Excitement. Fear. The unknown is infinite and so are our feelings towards it. There is much to be learned from what we do not know. Respect, empathy, humility. The featured works demonstrate how Unknowns vary from person to person and how we experience them. Each piece urges the viewer to take a moment to let go and “cheers” to the Great Unknown.
HEART is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides visual arts, music, and performing arts mentorships and community engagement for adults with disabilities who want to grow and develop as artists. They created a studio where artists of all abilities work together to create something that enriches and transforms the community. Inclusion in any field takes great efforts and HEART is proud to be leading the way for inclusion in the Charleston arts community.
Since 2014, they have shaped opportunities for adults with disabilities to create compelling art, lasting relationships, and foster community support. HEART currently supports over 20 artists who have shown their work throughout the Lowcountry, including Public Works Art Center in Summerville, The Charleston Pour House in Johns Island, and Hed Hi Media and the Charleston Music Hall in downtown Charleston.
