New artist to your discipline? There’s a grant (and program) for that

FY26 Rd. 2 Emerging Artist grant applications open

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Thursday, November 20, 2025

The SCAC wants to support the artistic and career development of emerging South Carolina artists through grant funding as well as mentorship and professional support.

Decorative imageOne way is through the Emerging Artist program, which includes a grant. The combination of funding and mentorship is intended to:

  • deepen artistic practice
  • encourage career growth

Applications are open for artists to apply for funding of up to $1,800 to support a proposed artistic project. Acceptable project types include artwork creation, an exhibition, or arts instruction. Head to the program page for more on current and recent grantees and see some work samples.

If any of this applies to you and you have interest in the program, the SCAC is offering coaching call for potential applicants with Artist Development Director Tanisha N. Brown is Thursday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. Register from the guidelines page.
