Milton looms in Gulf, Lowcountry on notice

Prepare now for flooding, strong winds

FEMA reached out to the SCAC through its Heritage Emergency National Task Force with a message for Lowcountry arts constituents:

Hurricane Milton is expected to continue to grow in size and remain an extremely dangerous hurricane as it approaches the west coast of Florida on Wednesday. Milton will continue across the state of Florida and may cause damaging and dangerous storm surge along the east coast of Georgia and South Carolina. Here is the latest (at publication time) forecast path for Milton:

NOAA weather forecast map showing the projected path of Hurricane Milton. Currently located north of the Yucatan Peninsula, it will head northeast toward the western Florida coast, crossing the state and heading into the Atlantic Ocean.

No reason to beat around the bush: it is lousy that we have to deal with this again so soon after Helene. But if we learned anything from the past two weeks, preparedness is critical.
