Two updates from artists Hub readers might remember from previous coverage…

  • Clarence Carter Boucher, who is listed on the SCAC’s S.C. Artist Directory, is the narrator of a poet’s recently published book. Boucher narrated Silhouettes of Silence by William Gomes, a British-Bangladeshi from York, North Yorkshire, UK. Gomes is an anti-racism campaigner and advocate for the rights of displaced people in the United Kingdom. He actively engages in speaking out against racism both locally and nationally. Of Boucher’s narration, Gomes said, “… your reading breathes life into each poem, making every word glow with meaning. Please keep going, let your voice reach thousands of souls. Your impact is immeasurable.” The book is available now for purchase by searching the retailer of your choice.
  • Dr. Walter B. Curry, Jr. of Orangeburg, founder of Renaissance Publications LLC, has received two awards for his contributions in the arts:
    • the art award for the Upsilon Rho Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc of Bamberg County at the organization’s annual awards and scholarship program on March 16 at Voorhees University, Denmark.
    • the Award of Merit from the The Confederation of South Carolina Local Historic Societies for his art exhibition “Ancestral Reflections: The Thompson Family” at the organization’s Landmark Conference held March 22-23 at South Carolina State University.
