Hub Quick Hits: RFQ invites #SCartists to join public art directory

Make yourself eligible for Charlotte area commissions

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. ET

Looking for public art opportunities? The biggest city in the Carolinas could come calling … but you need to apply to its directory.

Charlotte’s Arts & Science Council is accepting qualifications from local and regional professional artists or teams of artists for the Regional Artist Directory opportunity. This directory is intended to expand ASC’s reach to create more opportunities for local and regional artists, and to engage artists who might be new to the public art commissioning process.

The ASC Regional Artist Directory serves as a resource to identify North and South Carolina artists who can design/build creative features for city, county and private projects that may or may not be associated with larger scale public art projects. The directory will be used to select artists for projects with budgets up to $85,000 and will not replace the RFQ process for public art opportunities with budgets over $85,000.

The directory will be used to match artists on a rolling basis with opportunities for public art in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. Applications for the pool will be solicited again in 2024. The deadline to apply is Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Please note: Inclusion in the ASC Regional Artist Directory does not guarantee a commission.
