Plaza Rhythms: Garba Dance
In honor of Navratri, a major Hindu festival dedicated to the divine feminine, the Columbia Museum of Art invites you to learn a Gujarati folk dance known as Garba, that revolves around the nine forms of mother goddess Durga. This October 25th Plaza Rhythms event will be taught by local dancer and educator Panna Chauhan, is suitable for all ages, and is free with membership or admission. Registration is required, and capacity is limited to ensure physical distancing.

Old World Santas (Watercolor) with Marcia Kort Buike
The Arts Council of York County invites you to create a watercolor painting of an Old World Santa carrying his bag of gifts, in a class for beginning and intermediate students, led by Marcia Kort Buike. The class will meet December 4th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Center for the Arts in Rock Hill. The fee is $30 with supplies provided. Register no later than November 29th; enrollment is limited to eight students.
Workshop with Cecilia Ho: Nuno Felting with Merino & Silk
Nuno Felting is a wet felting technique where wool or fiber is felted with and through an open weave fabric such as silk chiffon. Fiber artist Cecilia Ho will lead a workshop in using this technique to create a one-of-a-kind Merino Silk scarf that can be worn year-round, August 29th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Spartanburg Art Museum. The class is open to ages 12 and up, and all materials are included. Pre-registration is required, recommended no later than August 24th.

Greer Cultural Arts Council and the City of Greer are offering Advanced Musical Theatre Workshops for ages 6-17. In each of these three-day sessions, students with previous experience will hone their skills in theatre, magic, vocals, musical instrumentation, and dance. Each session runs Monday through Wednesday, from 1pm to 4pm. Sessions are offered July 13th through 15th, July 20th through 22nd, and July 27 through 29th. Capacity is 6 to 10 students per session. Face coverings are required; bring your own, or buy one on site ($10).

Clay Workshop for Ages 11-15 in Greer
Greer Cultural Arts Council is offering "Too Much Fun With Clay," a clay workshop for ages 11-15. Participants will use hand-building techniques to create animals, sculptures, and containers. Both directed and experimental work will be supported and encouraged as each child's skill evolves. Pieces will be glazed and fired to take home. The classes meet July 20th through 31st from 1 to 3pm, weekdays except Wednesday. Capacity is 6 to 10 students. Face coverings are required; bring your own, or buy one on site ($10).
Creative Tuesdays with Liz: Virtual Art Projects
The Lancaster County Council of the Arts has started a YouTube series called "Creative Tuesdays with Liz," offering virtual art project tutorials during these days of staying inside. Art teacher Liz Bell will lead a new art project every Tuesday at 11:00 am (plus, videos from past projects are available to check out anytime). The projects are designed to use easily-found materials you can gather in advance.
Society of Bluffton Artists (SOBA) Summer Art Camp for Kids
The Society of Bluffton Artists' 2020 Summer Art Camp for kids has been rescheduled in light of the coronavirus. The camp will now run July 13-17 for ages 6-9 and July 20-24 for ages 10-12. Class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., at SOBA’s Center for Creative Arts (next door to the gallery in Old Town Bluffton). Organizers are taking precautions in light of the coronavirus, limiting the classes to 10 students. Each student will have their own work station, and no outside food will be permitted (drinks only). The tuition is $100 per child per week, including all materials.
Children Pottery Workshop
Columbia Art Center offers a Children's Pottery Workshop May 9. Children can participate in a three-hour pottery workshop for their age group and become exposed to the world of working with clay. Each workshop is divided by appropriate age levels and will expose children to both hand building and working with a pottery wheel. The goal of this workshop is to interest children in the wonders of pottery and ceramics. Each participant will have at least one completed project to their credit. Ages 5-9 will run 10 am - 1 pm and ages 10-16 will run 1:30 - 4:30 pm. Instruction by Tim Graham and Sonia Neale. Registration fee of $40 includes instruction and materials. Class size limited to minimum of 4 and maximum of 10.
