Grand Jeté 2021 – Virtual Student Ballet Competition
During Grand Jeté, presented by the SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, ballet students ages 10-19 compete for cash prizes, participate in ballet and modern master classes, and have the opportunity to be recruited by some of the nation's top dance programs. This is one of the only events in South Carolina where high school juniors and seniors can share their dance talents with so many recruiters in one place. SC dance teachers can also participate in workshops on beginning, intermediate and advanced ballet and modern dance led by industry professionals. All events during Grand Jeté weekend will be held virtually on Friday, March 19 through Sunday, March 21, 2021. Non-competitors are welcome to participate in master classes or webinars. Spring Break Art Camp for 4K-4th Grade
The Aiken Center for the Arts offers a Spring Break Art Camp. Learn to draw different animals and explore other mediums for creative (and sometimes messy) fun! Each day is different and you can register for as many days as you like. Open to ages 4K-4th grade.
Call for Applications: SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities
The SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities is now accepting applications for summer programs and the tuition-free, residential high school. All South Carolina residents in grades 6-11 are eligible to apply online at SCGSAH.org for the 2021-2022 school year. Located in downtown Greenville, the Governor’s School offers pre-professional training in creative writing, dance, drama, music, and visual arts. Students attend from all over the state to learn from established, practicing artists in an environment that provides the resources needed to hone their artistic abilities including specialized arts studios, state-of-the-art performance halls, dedicated rehearsal spaces and a world-class library. Application deadlines vary by program. Apply by Nov. 30 to receive an application fee waiver.
Plaza Rhythms: Garba Dance
In honor of Navratri, a major Hindu festival dedicated to the divine feminine, the Columbia Museum of Art invites you to learn a Gujarati folk dance known as Garba, that revolves around the nine forms of mother goddess Durga. This October 25th Plaza Rhythms event will be taught by local dancer and educator Panna Chauhan, is suitable for all ages, and is free with membership or admission. Registration is required, and capacity is limited to ensure physical distancing.
Sweetgrass Basket Making Classes in Hilton Head

Old World Santas (Watercolor) with Marcia Kort Buike
The Arts Council of York County invites you to create a watercolor painting of an Old World Santa carrying his bag of gifts, in a class for beginning and intermediate students, led by Marcia Kort Buike. The class will meet December 4th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Center for the Arts in Rock Hill. The fee is $30 with supplies provided. Register no later than November 29th; enrollment is limited to eight students.
Workshop with Cecilia Ho: Nuno Felting with Merino & Silk
Nuno Felting is a wet felting technique where wool or fiber is felted with and through an open weave fabric such as silk chiffon. Fiber artist Cecilia Ho will lead a workshop in using this technique to create a one-of-a-kind Merino Silk scarf that can be worn year-round, August 29th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Spartanburg Art Museum. The class is open to ages 12 and up, and all materials are included. Pre-registration is required, recommended no later than August 24th.

Advanced Musical Theatre Workshops for Ages 6-17 in Greer
Greer Cultural Arts Council and the City of Greer are offering Advanced Musical Theatre Workshops for ages 6-17. In each of these three-day sessions, students with previous experience will hone their skills in theatre, magic, vocals, musical instrumentation, and dance. Each session runs Monday through Wednesday, from 1pm to 4pm. Sessions are offered July 13th through 15th, July 20th through 22nd, and July 27 through 29th. Capacity is 6 to 10 students per session. Face coverings are required; bring your own, or buy one on site ($10).

Greer Cultural Arts Council is offering "Too Much Fun With Clay," a clay workshop for ages 11-15. Participants will use hand-building techniques to create animals, sculptures, and containers. Both directed and experimental work will be supported and encouraged as each child's skill evolves. Pieces will be glazed and fired to take home. The classes meet July 20th through 31st from 1 to 3pm, weekdays except Wednesday. Capacity is 6 to 10 students. Face coverings are required; bring your own, or buy one on site ($10).
