Will Penny’s Neutral Zone

Will Penny’s Neutral Zone is an immersive installation featuring a combination of digital and experimental media, representing the artist’s interests in simulation, interactivity, and techno-romanticism. Borrowing from a range of sources including science fiction, fantasy art, gestural abstraction and other artistic formal conventions, the works within Neutral Zone take multiple approaches to representing experience as fragments and components of a larger whole, mediated through time-based video and sculptural works. The slippage between simulation, illusion and reality is the space in which the Neutral Zone is situated. The installation is on view September 8th through October 23rd, at University Place Gallery, an extension of Francis Marion University, located in the newly renovated Rainwater Building in downtown Florence.
