Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike
Winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike plays April 27 through May 7 at the Tryon Little Theater Workshop in Tryon. Named after Chekhov characters by their professor parents, two middle-aged siblings, Vanya and Sonia, remained in the family home after years of caring for their elderly parents. Sister Masha, a fading star of a horror film franchise, arrives with her boy toy, Spike, a self-absorbed young actor who was almost cast in the sequel of Entourage. Add in a psychic housekeeper, and a young aspiring actress visiting next door, and hilarity ensues. Performances are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and a 3 p.m. Sunday matinee. Tickets are $16 and $11.
