Ulrick Spann-Hanssen, organist
Organist Ulrik Spang-Hanssen has often been termed a musical octopus, one that “embraces” many different musical styles and chores. He is one of Denmark’s most frequently engaged organ soloists, and has given a large number of concerts all over the world both alone, as a chamber musician, as a soloist with orchestra and as a jazz musician. He was appointed professor at the Academy of Music in Aarhus in 2005 and gives many master courses in Europe and the USA, and is also known for his many distinctive CD recordings, among them the first Danish complete recording of Buxtehude’s organ works. Ulrick Spann-Hanssen performs November 3 at 4 p.m. at Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia.
