Trailer Nails & Fish Heads: Sculpture and Paintings by John Acorn

Trailer Nails & Fish Heads: Sculpture and Paintings by John Acorn is on view through May 1st at the Center for Visual Arts at Clemson. Hours are 1–5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Brooks Center Lobby Showcase. This exhibition showcases a relatively unknown body of work by South Carolina’s most noted and prolific artist. These works explore the natural environment with a focus on coastal influences, discards and decay. Through the use of trailer nails, plywood, plate steel and paint the artist represents beauty and the passing of time through a surprisingly tranquil lens. John Acorn served as chairman of the Dept. of Art at Clemson University from 1976 – 1998.
