Toonin’ In: The Culture of Cartoons from Hogarth to the New Yorker

The Charleston Library Society presents Toonin’ In: The Culture of Cartoons from Hogarth to the New Yorker, on view May 18-June 13. This unique exhibit of historical and current cartoons, reflecting social and political commentary, is comprised of classic New Yorker cartoons on loan from the Morgan Library and Museum; original Hogarth and Gillray folios from the CLS vaults; and a small sampling of cartoons and workbooks from Matthew Diffee, an American cartoonist whose works have frequently appeared in the New Yorker magazine. Open Monday through Friday from 10AM to 4PM. As part of the exhibit, the Library Society will host guest speaker Matthew Diffee on June 2nd at 6PM.
