Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Coastal Carolina University’s Department of Communication, Media and Culture presents the film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri September 18 at 5 p.m. in the student union theatre. In Martin McDonagh’s 2017 Academy Award-winning drama, Mildred Hayes (Frances McDormand) makes a bold move after months have passed without a culprit in her daughter’s murder case, painting three signs leading into her town with controversial messages directed at the town’s chief of police. When his second-in-command Officer Dixon (Sam Rockwell) gets involved, the battle between Mildred and area law enforcement sweeps up the small town. Following the screening, CCU assistant professors Cassandra Hill and Wendy Weinhold, both of the Department of Communication, Media and Culture, will lead a discussion on communication activism and advocacy as a personal and public commitment to change through dialogue. Free.
